Code of Ethics
The following is the Clubs code of ethics which we request all members abide by
to ensure the ongoing welfare of our wonderful breed.
THE FRENCH BULLDOG CLUB OF QLD
CODE OF ETHICS
1. I shall always ensure that the dogs under my care are properly housed, fed, watered, regularly wormed and kept in good condition. All dogs shall receive proper veterinary attention when required.
2. I shall not allow any dogs under my care to roam at large and when in public I will ensure they are always under effective control. I will ensure that my dogs are kept in a secure and fully fenced environment.
3. I shall only breed for the purpose of maintaining or improving the quality and health of the breed, which includes participation in hereditary disease programs. I shall not breed indiscriminately, nor shall my breeding practices that reflect those associated with a commercial environment. a) I shall not breed from any bitch before she is twelve (12) months of age. b) I shall not exceed 6 French Bulldog litters in a single membership year. c) I shall not breed from the same bitch more than two (2) consecutive seasons without a twelve (12) month break (the definition of ‘breed’ means date of mating).
4. Strongly Recommended Breeding Practices
(a) X ray spines for major defects prior to breeding. Screening to improve long term stability of the spine.
(b) X ray with hip scoring prior to breeding. For breeding purposes spine and hip x rays should be taken when the dog is over 12 months of age.
(c) Full Breed DNA Profiling for Hereditary Diseases
(d) Testing for Luxating Patella’s
Breeders Listing Terms and Conditions
• Must have held membership with the French Bulldog Club of QLD for a minimum 2 consecutive years.
• Always adhere to the club’s code of ethics.
• Must provide a Contract of Sale outlining their terms and conditions on health and return policy to all respective buyers.
• Contribute as an active Member within the French Bulldog Club of QLD
• The Club Reserves the right to refuse or remove the Breeders Listing, should any of the Breeders Listing Terms and Conditions or the Clubs Code of Ethics not be adhered to.
